The findings and actions taken are outlined below. [Incident Overview and Timeline] Immediately after the block production delay was identified, the WEMIX team initiated an investigation and emergency recovery measures. Block production resumed on the same day, followed by the full restoration of normal block production intervals and all network functions. • July 19, 2026, at 15:07 (KST): Block production was delayed after block #118,207,418. • July 19, 2026, at 16:40 (KST): Block production was restored after the inconsistent shared consensus state was reconciled. The block production delay lasted approximately 93 minutes. • July 19, 2026, at 18:16 (KST): Normal block production intervals were fully restored. [Root Cause] The WEMIX3.0 mainnet produces blocks through consensus among multiple validator nodes. During this process, the nodes also reference consensus data shared across the network. The delay originated from temporary network latency. As the latency slowed the process of retrieving the latest state and recording the relevant consensus data, the permitted time window for recording the data expired. As a result, a value reflecting the state prior to the delay was recorded in the shared consensus data. Meanwhile, the consensus process had continued normally and reached the latest state, creating a temporary mismatch between the information shared across the nodes and the actual latest state. The WEMIX3.0 mainnet is designed to delay block production and remain in a safe waiting state when information across validator nodes is not fully aligned, thereby preventing an invalid block from being produced. In this instance, the safeguard operated as intended, resulting in a temporary block production delay. No invalid data was recorded, and no user assets were affected during the incident. This is a very rare scenario that can occur only when several conditions, including network latency and the timing of data recording, coincide. Since its mainnet launch, WEMIX3.0 has produced 118,207,418 blocks without issue over approximately 32,835 hours, and this was the first such case observed. [Follow-up Measures and Current Status] Following the restoration of block production on the day of the incident, additional corrective measures were implemented to prevent the same conditions from recurring. • Emergency Recovery Completed (July 19): The inconsistent shared consensus state was promptly reconciled, allowing block production to resume. Normal block production intervals were fully restored later that day. • Preventive Update Deployed (July 21): An update was deployed to improve the logic used to retrieve and process consensus data. The update prevents stale consensus data from being used in the consensus process after its validity period has expired, even when network communication is delayed. This change addresses the underlying condition that caused the incident and prevents the same edge case from recurring. • Rolling Validator Node Upgrade Underway (From July 22): Validator nodes are being upgraded sequentially across different time windows to prevent simultaneous upgrades from affecting block production. There has been no change to the way validator nodes are operated. Upgrades to internally operated nodes have been completed, while externally operated validator nodes are applying the update in stages in accordance with the provided guidance. Furthermore, no asset loss, compromise of data integrity, or other secondary impact occurred as a result of this incident. All WEMIX3.0 mainnet functions and transaction processing are currently operating normally.
